Prospective Students

Please review all application instructions before completing the application. International applicants applying for admission on an F-1 Student visa should review Information for Prospective International Students

NEW STUDENTS

  1. Complete the application form and submit it to the Admissions Office. NOTE: The application and all associated documentation must be received in the Admissions Office prior to the published deadline for guaranteed processing of the admissions application for the term involved.
  2. If you have taken the SAT or ACT within the last three years, have a copy of your test results sent to the Admissions Office.
  3. If you have not previously attended college, you must arrange for an official copy of your high school transcript (showing graduation) to be sent to the Admissions Office only if you:
    1. are less than 18 years old and are a high school graduate
    2. are applying for a Health Sciences or Nursing program
    3. wish to use the high school transcript to provide ACT or SAT scores
    4. are planning to apply for financial aid
    5. are applying for the life scholarship
    6. are requested to do so by the Admissions Office.

    NOTE: Applicants in the above categories who completed a high school equivalency certificate ( GED ) or a diploma from an adult basic education program must provide a copy of their completion certificate in place of the high school transcript.

    TRANSFER STUDENTS

    1. If you have previously attended college, arrange for each college you previously attended to send an official copy of your transcript to the Admissions Office. Transcript request forms are available at the Admissions Office. If you are requesting advanced standing, you should advise the Admissions Office of this when you submit your application.
    2. Transfer students who have earned a two-year degree or higher at a regionally accredited college or university may be exempt from taking the college placement test. Completion of certain college-level mathematics and English courses may also exempt you from the placement test.

    READMIT STUDENTS

    If you are a returning student and have not attended Midlands Technical College during the previous two terms (excluding summer), you must complete a new application.

    VISITING STUDENTS

    Students matriculating at other colleges who wish to enroll in courses at Midlands Technical College must submit an application and meet all placement and other prerequisites for the course(s) in which they plan to enroll or present written permission from their home institution to take the specific course(s).

    CONCURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

    Students enrolled in high school may in some instances be admitted to the college as career development students to take a limited number of courses. These applicants, if less than 18 years old, must provide letters of permission from their parent/guardian and from their high school principle/designee. Home schoolers should provide the parental permission letter and a letter from the school district or the state approved home school association under whose auspices the applicant is home schooling.

    HEALTH SCIENCES AND NURSING

    If you are applying for a Health Sciences or Nursing program, you are required to meet specific requirements for your major in addition to requirements for acceptance to the college. The additional requirements can be found in the college catalogue or in the Programs of Study section of the MTC On-line Advisement Manual at college catalogue.

    SERVICES FOR APPLICANTS WITH DISABILITIES

    Applicants needing special accommodations should contact the Disability Resource Center or (803) 822-3505 at least 30 working days prior to the first day of classes.
